I cannot express in words how much I enjoy reading your stories. And I do agree that it’s time to go beyond the 1 or 2 line limitation. Please do read the challenge rules as they are a bit different now.
From now onwards, please write a longer piece of flash fiction. Please feel free to do this on you own blog and pingback it here, so we can go and read your wonderful stories.
On to last week’s challenge, for which you took the prompt and made magic out of it.
Sonali’s story was the most impactful, and for the first time I hated a story. I hate tragedies and her story was so beautifully written that it evokes real emotions. I’m desperately trying to give it a positive ending in my mind just to make myself happy. Guess will have to ask Sonali only to do that.
Mandi and Kay wrote their stories on their blog. You must visit them to read the beautiful stories of doggy tales and futuristic worlds they weaved from the prompt.
Lisa liked my take on the prompt, which was a first. Her story itself was a lovely one. 🙂 So, was Ms. Sassy’s Sleepy Tales. 🙂
I liked Sandra’s story too. It also reminded me of my own story – A Moment of Time
Here’s this week’s prompt –
Hundreds of drones zoomed ahead in the empty field, buzzing loudly like bees swarming over a honeycomb.
Challenge Rules –
- Please complete the story in a maximum of 500 words.
- The story should start with the prompt as the first line.
- Stories need to be written on your own blog, with a pingback here.
- This is the only post where you are allowed to share your links in the comments.
- If a comment or story written by another blogger inspires you to write one of your own, please remember to thank them.
- Creativity rules. The story could be told in a rhyming poem, free verse or prose. It could be funny, dark, thought-provoking or even a true incident retold creatively.
- The Challenge will run from Tuesday to Sunday.
- Most creative stories shall get a special mention in next week’s challenge.
- The main purpose of this challenge is to have fun and learn. Those who are able to mentor and help others grow in their writing; you are encouraged to do so. All constructive feedback should be communicated in a kind and helpful manner AND received in a welcoming manner.
- Please do read other stories and visit their blogs or give them feedback here. Each one of us is here to showcase our writing to others. Give first what you want in return.
- If you are interested in participating in the challenge, please follow the blog to receive the prompts via email.
- As before, remember to go off the beaten track. Think out-of-the-box.
Prompt 9 Rules –
- The story must have a futuristic sci-fi feel to it.
- Additional challenge – use the drones to solve some world crisis.
This prompt is open until Sunday, May 8th, 2016. Please remember to submit your stories in the comments before then.
My story is –
Hundreds of drones buzzed out in the empty field ahead, like bees swarming over a honeycomb.
In the glass tower across the field, 10 pairs of eyes watched, their hearts in their mouth. Months and months of hard work had literally flown out the window. The drones had a mind of their own now.
A few seconds later, lights beeped crazily on the drones. With bated breath, the men and women waited to see how the next few moments would unfold.
Images flickered up on giant-sized screens inside the tower. Cries of surprise, accompanied with whoops of joy and sounds of enthusiastic jubilant claps rang out loudly. They could now see what the drones could see.
Relief operations during calamities and disasters would be far more effective now.
Well, that’s my story. I know it isn’t that great. Well, hopefully, you’ll do a better job than me. Look forward to reading your stories.
I’m glad you liked my contribution ! This time though, you’ve made the challenge a lot more difficult 😦

Our stories use the same idea actually. I usually write my story first and then come back to read so I only just noticed😀

Aaah ! The first thought which comes to my mind , stupidly suppressing any other thoughts which might help me weave a story -Why the hell she said “Hundreds of drone..” ..Isn’t one or tens enough ..now how big that field has to be in my story !
Now I have to catch up on old prompts .. have missed lots , but I must say ..I love reading all! One time when comments are more entertaining than post 😀 ..scan through the post , spot the prompt ..now read comments!

LOL! Hundreds because that way they’ll be hundred times more scary than one. 😛
I’m so thrilled to know you enjoy the prompt and the responses. Thank you so much. You should participate more often. 🙂 I miss your stories when you don’t 🙂

Aah , am not a story teller by birth , by DNA , or genes 😉 But when I see your prompt , a thought , a image comes to mind which I attempt some days . I think 100 words story will be too much to dish out 😦 ..So am still thinking about story. Perhaps a school or training center will need 100 drones ….
