I feel like I’ve written to you after ages. Even checked the last time when I actually wrote something for the blog. Turns out it was back in early August. Sheesh! *Cue major guilt pangs.*
Okay, on to more interesting things.
Firstly, let’s pop that champagne. I reached the milestone of 500 followers. A shoutout to Mariwritings for being my 500th reader. Humbled and honoured at the love! Shall be actively returning some of that now that my novel is nearing completion.
Secondly, I’ve been ignoring my blog recently for bigger things like getting published in online magazines and websites. Not anymore. The feeling of not being able to connect with you via my or your blog left me with a sense of loss – as if something was missing. It is only yesterday that I realised what was missing exactly? It was the connect we had, even though virtual. And, while being paid and published is as appealing to a ‘freelance’ writer as it sounds, it is also tough work. Sure, I’ll need to have to continue doing that but I shall become more choosy and less money-driven.
Which brings me to my third thing – my writing. Isn’t that what all of this is for?
So, I’m going back to basics again – which is write for yourself first. Had forgotten that for a little while. All those questions about ‘Who do you write for?’, ‘So, where all have you been published?’, and ‘How come you’re not earning?’ had put too much humanly pressure on my alien mind. They are detrimental for my wacky non-existential existence of an excuse called brain and hence, need to be put in a tightly sealed box and thrown into the river, which is exactly what I shall do.
And so, I shall go back to writing more about travel, fiction, and humour. (And that also reminds me the various promises I’ve made to you in the past. I hope you think that I’ve come good on those.)
Look out for a short story by Wednesday/Thursday. 🙂
Oh, by the way, there is one more thing to celebrate! Did I tell you I have been appointed as Municipal Liasion for the India chapter of NaNoWriMo.org? What’s even more fun is that, on a lark, I designed the below logo and surprisingly, it became a huge hit and was much loved by all. Do tell me what you think of it?
