Story Continuation Challenge Prompt 2

To all those who participated to the Story Continuation Challenge last weekThank you for taking up the challenge.

I was overwhelmed to see the response. Your replies were not just hugely motivating to me, being host blogger, but also immensely creative and interesting. Funny, dark, realistic – each entry brought about a different reaction and vivid images of the story it told.

The story that was most liked by us all was Oneta’s –

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Jack,
He crawled through a thorn bush and scratched his back.

My personal favourite was Aseena’s

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Jack.
He was unhappy until surgeons helped change the name to Jacqueline. Now she’s happy…

Many congratulations to each participant for your amazing story-telling skills. I personally enjoyed reading each story.

Here’s the second prompt. Entries will be accepted till Sunday, March  20th, 2016.

Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably.woman-1006102_640.jpg

My story is –

She mourned the death of one who wasn’t even born.

Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably as blood pooled around her lifeless 4 year old.
Her husband dropped the gun from frozen fingers.
    He Missed.

Whew! Maybe I should put in an alert for weak-hearted readers like me. *Sob* Amazing story. So much left unsaid. Prompts the reader to go beyond the written words. Outstanding ending!
You definitely must develop it more. Write a longer one on your blog. Would love to read it.

Heart- broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably.
She knew she had to face the world eventually; she didn’t want to say the words outloud. Carefully, with controlled movements, she put on her face, lipstick, waterproof mascara, concealer, and powder; she held that face pronouncing her husband of forty-years, had passed on his sleep; the family joined her sobbing.

That’s a great story, Mandi. Well done. I like how she mechanically puts on her make-up, just to keep up appearances.

Thanks so much. Yeah putting on her ‘face’ not to show emotion, her true feelings.

Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably. Anna watched with empathetic tenderness. She remembered a lesson from her grief counseling class, “There will be times when words won’t help, but your presence will.” But how hard it is to bridle the tongue.

“There will be times when words won’t help, but your presence will.” – so true! Beautiful story, Oneta!

Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably. She just couldn’t fathom why they had killed his character after seven long years. He was the only reason she binge-watched the sitcom in the first place.

Me too. But even more painful was death of Josh Charles’ character Will Gardner in Good Wife. That was an unresolved, untimely death. And unlike GA, they had kept it under tight wraps until the episode aired, making it a real shocker for viewers. :'(

Heartbroken helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably. The thought of losing her virginity to someone she despised was tearing her soul apart. How she regretted her decision to drive alone to the bar at midnight, to rebel her parents to marry her true love!!

Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably. She had to give her home to battle the cancer threatening mother and today, her brother was found dead at the seashore.

With swollen eyes, she looked at her only sister who might as well have some misfortune since evil has caught up with them all.

She burst into another round of tears, the dam unlocked.

Hira, loved the happy ending in your story. Your’s inspired me with another, very similar one though… Please allow me 🙂 😛
Heart-broken, helpless and depressed, she sobbed inconsolably.
      With a dash of butter and a splash of lemon, the fried fish was relished with much gusto;
Even as the broken doll lay abandoned in one corner.
